Value multiple benefits

Why don't companies invest more in energy efficiency? One answer is that energy savings alone are insufficient to compel investment.

However, by quantifying and communicating multiple benefits - such as improved product quality, enhanced employee productivity, better indoor air quality, reduced costs, and mitigated commercial risk - project proposals demonstrate how efficiency benefits a company's core business.

The dimensions of competitive advantage

Competitive advantage through energy efficiency

Helping companies improve competitive advantage and energy performance is the goal of the project Valuing & Communicating the Multiple Benefits of Energy Efficiency – a Horizon 2020 project funded by the EU.

Fifteen partners, led by the Fraunhofer Institute for Systems and Innovation Research, will deliver training, analysis and communication tools, and evidence so that European organisations can quantify the competitive impacts of projects that improve energy performance.
